Prong SetProng Set is the use of metal wire to hold a gemstone in place by tension. A notch is cut out on the inside of the prong to seat a stone into its place. The prongs are pulled over the top of the stone to hold it.
Great engagement ring.
The prongs holding the ring in place are a bit different than I was expecting. They are higher up and a bit pronounced on the actual ring than it appears on the picture.

This setting is great, it makes the main stone look really big. I picked a 1 carat emereld cut, and everyone is asking her if it is a 1.5 or 2 carat. Its the perfect setting if your girl likes the antique style rings like mine does.

We purchased this ring as a 10th anniversary upgrade, and paired with the matching wedding band it is beautiful. We went to local jewelry stores looking for a setting like this one for this price and could not find anything close.
