All About Ovals

There are many questions on “how to choose the best diamond” when in reality it is one of the most personal choices you can make. Today were going to go over color and length to width ratio in order to help you make your best decision.

The first, most important step when choosing your diamond is to establish your budget.

When looking at the 4 C’s: Color, Cut, Clarity, and Carat Weight, we believe that you should choose the C that is most important to you. Start by ranking the most important C to the least important C. We believe this choice is completely personal and that there is no correct answer.

Ovals are brilliant cut diamonds giving them a beautiful sparkle. Ovals will usually appear larger in size than a round cut diamond of the same carat weight.

Diamond Color is also a personal preference. Below are four different 1 carat oval diamonds showing different colors. The D color will be the least warm and the K color will be the most warm. Oval diamonds tend to hold on to warmth more than other diamond shapes. Let us know down below which color you prefer!

Length to width ratio measures the overall shape of an oval diamond. The typical range is a ratio between 1.3-1.6. A length to width ratio of 1.3 will appear shorter, where as a length to width ratio of 1.6 will appear elongated.

Below are four different 1 carat oval diamonds, all with different length to width ratios. Which length to width ratio would you choose? Let us know in the comments.

Hello Hidden Halo!

Here’s why paying close attention to detail for the piece that means the most makes a lifetime of difference.

The engagement ring is a token of love that is appreciated through generations. We’re going to tell you why it’s the small details in this piece that really make its value stand the test of time.

We are all familiar with seeing a classic halo around the center stone. This type of halo can assist in allowing the center stone to appear larger and the size of the ring overall.

The newest term in engagement ring details is Hidden Halo. At Adiamor we call a Hidden Halo, adding diamonds to the basket. This refers to a halo that is not seen from a bird’s eye view. A Hidden Halo is usually underneath the center stone and can only be seen from the side of the ring.

At Adiamor you can add diamonds to any basket setting which will create a Hidden Halo. When done this way, it creates dainty halo that doesn’t take away from the center stone but adds an extra sparkle when viewing the ring from any angle.
