Planning A Valentine’s Day Proposal? Start Planning The Wedding, Too

by Chris W

If you are one of the many men who are currently plotting out the details to a Valentine’s Day proposal, get ready to start thinking about the wedding! While presenting your bride to be with the gorgeous custom designed engagement ring of her dreams will be a thrilling moment, wedding planning will start almost immediately. Be prepared to answer lots of questions from your friends and family regarding the wedding date, the size of the wedding, and more.

When’s The Date?

If you’re planning to propose soon, you better have a wedding date in mind, too. If you know your future bride is set on a summer wedding, then proposing on Valentine’s Day either means a short or long engagement. A short engagement can be very stressful because of the amount of wedding planning involved. However, a long engagement can also feel endless to couples who are ready to be married. The average engagement period in the United States is about 14 months, so a Valentine’s Day proposal is perfect for brides who want an early summer wedding.

Big Celebration or Intimate Ceremony?

In addition to the wedding date, the next big question will be about the size of the wedding. Depending on the size of the families, the guest list can get very long very fast. If you know her mom has 8 siblings, then you better expect a big wedding. One thing to keep in mind, though, is a wedding ceremony is the day of the bride and groom.  Be sure to make the wedding day special for the both of you, even if you’re getting help paying.

Matching Wedding Rings

While it may not seem important when you’re deciding between rose gold engagement rings and white gold engagement rings, another thing to consider with your Valentine’s Day proposal is the wedding bands. Many brides prefer to have a diamond wedding band that matches their engagement ring. Additionally, some couples prefer both to have matching wedding rings as a couple, too. Although its a smaller detail, its another big questions. Definitely consider matching bands when planning your Valentine’s Day proposal this year.
