Diamonds purchased through Adiamor are accompanied by their original certificate, also referred to as a Diamond Grading Report, Diamond Dossier®, or Diamond Quality Report. Adiamor provides free appraisals for all engagement rings, Design Your Own rings, and all gemstone jewelry valued over $1000.

What is a Certificate?

A diamond certificate is prepared by an independent third party laboratory and verifies that a diamond is genuine and provides an evaluation of a diamond's characteristics. A certificate will contain a complete quality description of the diamond and will include information on shape, weight, color, clarity, fluorescence, measurements, proportions and overall finish.

Certificates and Diamond Grading Labs

At Adiamor, we only sell loose diamonds that have been analyzed and graded by the most reputable and respected laboratories in the industry. These include the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL), the International Gemological Institute (IGI), and the Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL). Each of these independent laboratories has a long history of strict, consistent, and unbiased diamond grading. When you buy a diamond from us, you can be assured of its quality and value.

GIA

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the most reputable and consistent organization for evaluating diamonds, and it created the four Cs of diamond grading: carat, cut, color, and clarity. A GIA certificate gives detailed information on these attributes, as well as polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and proportions. A GIA certificate also has a unique serial number that can be checked on the GIA website.

GCAL

The Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL) is a research laboratory that specializes in guaranteed diamond grading, with a zero tolerance consumer grading guarantee that offers cash-back for any error in identification or grading of the certified diamond. The GCAL also provides a unique optical fingerprint for each diamond, as well as 360°, fire, and scintillation videos. A GCAL certificate gives information on the four Cs of diamond grading, as well as light performance, optical brilliance, and Hearts & Arrows. A GCAL certificate also has a unique serial number that can be checked on the GCAL website .

IGI

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is the largest organization of its kind, with 20 laboratory locations around the world. The IGI employs gemologists who are trained and certified by the GIA, and they use the same equipment and techniques to grade diamonds. An IGI certificate gives information on the four Cs of diamond grading, as well as polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and proportions. An IGI certificate also has a unique serial number that can be checked on the IGI website.

AGSL

The American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL) is a pioneer for a grading system that analyzes diamond cut quality, which is considered the most important factor for diamond beauty. The AGSL uses a 0 to 10 scale to grade diamonds on the four Cs, as well as polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and light performance. A 0 grade indicates an ideal or excellent quality. An AGSL certificate also has a unique serial number that can be checked on the AGS website.

Appraisal and Certification Documents

An appraisal is a document stating the approximate retail replacement value of an item and is usually necessary for insurance purposes. In case of loss, theft, or damage, your insurance company will use the appraisal to provide an equal replacement of your item. In addition, your insurance company will also calculate your premium based on the retail replacement value in the appraisal. At your request, Adiamor will provide a complimentary professional appraisal on diamond engagement ring purchases.

What's in our Appraisal?

Our appraisals are written and signed by our Gemology experts, so you can be sure that the item you purchased is of the absolute finest quality. The center stone is inspected under magnification to ensure it matches the accompanying laboratory certificate. Sidestones are also carefully inspected to ensure that they meet the strict standards of high quality set by Adiamor. In addition, our appraisal for diamond engagement rings contain valuable information, including:

  • The precious metal used in the engagement setting.
  • An accurate and complete description of the item being appraised.
  • The shape, carat weight, color, clarity, and measurements of the center diamond.
  • The name of the independent laboratory certification and report number.
  • The approximate retail replacement value. If you have any further questions about the appraisal report, please email us at service@adiamor.com or contact a customer service representative by phone at 1-877-627-5094.
