Do diamond testers detect lab diamonds as "fake" ?

Laboratory-grown diamonds will test the same as natural diamonds when tested with a diamond tester.  We suggest having any diamond, lab-grown or natural, graded by a reputable laboratory vs using a diamond tester. Are they less sparkly?

Sparkle is a subjective characteristic. That being said, a lab-grown diamond that is well-cut and high-quality would sparkle just as much as a well-cut high-quality natural diamond.

Why do people call them fake diamonds?

It is common to call imitations fake. Some may confuse lab-grown diamonds with other imitations such as cubic zirconia. Lab-grown diamonds are not imitations, they are diamonds grown in a laboratory versus mined from the ground. That being said, knowing what you are buying is very important. We recommend only purchasing lab-grown diamonds or natural diamonds from a credible source and certified by a reputable grading laboratory.

Will your diamonds have "eye clean" listed?

We do not identify "Eye Clean" on any of the diamonds listed on our site. If you have questions about any of the lab-grown diamonds or natural diamonds on our site, contact us by chat, email, or call. We are happy to walk you through the characteristics.

How is a lab-grown diamond grown from a seed?

A diamond seed is placed in a specifically designed press. The growth chamber is heated to 1300-1600 degrees Celsius with pressures above 870,000 pounds per square inch. The molten metal dissolves the high purity carbon source. Carbon atoms precipitate on a small diamond seed crystal, and a lab-grown diamond begins to grow. The lab-grown crystal is then cut and polished by a diamond cutter.

What is the difference between a lab-grown diamond and moissanite?

Do they show the same quality? Or can people tell it's not real?

Looking at the difference between a lab-grown diamond and an earth-mined diamond is more about what you know, not what others think. It is highly unlikely that a person would know whether a diamond is lab-grown or earth-mined without looking at the inscription.
